Position Overview:

The Laboratory Science Specialist will play a crucial role in the operational efficiency of the clinical laboratory within the Student Health Service. Reporting to the Senior Supervising Clinical Laboratory Scientist, this position involves performing a variety of testing procedures in compliance with CLIA 88 standards across multiple specialties, including hematology, urinalysis, clinical microscopy, diagnostic immunology, chemistry, microbiology, and virology/molecular diagnostics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct laboratory tests with a high degree of accuracy and precision.
  • Utilize laboratory equipment such as hematology analyzers, chemistry analyzers, centrifuges, and microscopes effectively.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and institutional policies.
  • Ensure all laboratory instruments are properly maintained, calibrated, and safe for use.
  • Keep the laboratory environment clean and organized to promote safety and efficiency.

Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant training and experience in high complexity testing.
  • Proficient in operating standard laboratory equipment across various specialties.

Special Employment Conditions:
  • Compliance with mandated reporting requirements for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse.
  • Successful completion of background checks and credentialing processes.
  • Evidence of annual influenza vaccination or adherence to mask-wearing protocols during flu season.
  • Adherence to HIPAA and FERPA regulations.
  • Awareness that the Student Health facility observes a closure period during specific holidays.

Compensation:
Hourly wage range: $39.32 - $49.88

Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
