Position Overview
As a Lead Appian Application Developer, you will play a pivotal role in crafting innovative technical solutions while adhering to established timelines. Your focus will be on development and collaboration with business stakeholders and end users, dedicating approximately 70-80% of your time to these activities, while the remainder will involve overseeing outsourced development efforts. This is a full-time, in-office position.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the authority on architecting and deploying Appian and other IT solutions.
- Lead initiatives to ensure all developed solutions comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Collect and analyze user requirements to translate them into actionable IT solutions.
- Document and prioritize requirements in Jira, ensuring they are well-architected and ready for efficient development.
- Design and implement data models.
- Integrate various third-party platforms to create cohesive IT solutions.
- Develop and enhance Appian applications.
- Facilitate data accessibility for company users to drive business process enhancements.
- Oversee the production efforts of outsourced development teams.
- Establish a rollout schedule for functionalities and ensure timely project delivery within budget.
- Research and implement new tools to streamline and expedite application development.
- Conduct thorough testing of all deployments prior to launch.
- Address and resolve bugs reported by end users in real-time.
- Manage system capacity to ensure optimal investment in Appian and related platforms.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation, training materials, and tools that are easily accessible and reusable across the organization.
- Manage the relationship with Appian, including contract discussions, with support from the COO.
Candidate Profile
- B.S./B.A. in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field.
- A well-rounded technology professional with a robust skill set.
- Over 5 years of experience in Appian development (Appian Lead Developer certification preferred).
- 5+ years of SQL experience.
- 3 years of experience with Python.
- At least 3 years of experience in an agile development environment.
- Experience with identity management systems (single sign-on).
- Proven ability to guide a team of developers towards efficient development practices.
- A collaborative team player with a positive attitude.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a knack for creative solutions.
- Preferred: 5+ years of Java development experience, particularly in the context of Appian plugins.
- Preferred: Certifications such as Certified ScrumMaster or PMP.
- Preferred: Familiarity with Appian Portals.
