Job Summary

The Puerto Rican Cultural Center is seeking a highly qualified Associate Director of Behavioral Health to join our team. This is a full-time position that will provide behavioral health and substance abuse clinical programming, interact with clients, and implement new programs and in-services as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide behavioral health and substance abuse clinical programming
  • Interact with clients and implement new programs and in-services as needed
  • Serve as a mentor to clinical and substance abuse counselors, interns, and behavioral case managers
  • Provide ongoing supervision, training, and oversight of clinical activities
  • Work collaboratively with other Public Health Initiatives Programs in the development and implementation of programs that reflect the mission and statement of The Puerto Rican Cultural Center
  • Provide mental health assessment, short-term and some long-term substance abuse, and mental health counseling services to young and older adults with mental health challenges
  • Develop, analyze, and interpret required reports to measure program performance and compliance
  • Monitor client records, behavior, progress, and treatment plans in relationship with treatment services
  • Ensure and provide for effective case management development and implementation including specialized behavioral intervention plans, progress and update reports, and treatment team meetings
  • Conduct client file reviews in a timely manner to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Develop and provide substance use and mental health individual and group therapy services
  • Provide crisis assessment and intervention to behavioral health and primary care clients, and other individuals presenting in crisis
  • Document patient contact/progress concisely in the electronic medical record in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Ensure the highest quality of care by collaborating with other disciplines (i.e., medical, case management, linkage to care) to improve client's mental and physical health
  • Provide consultation to other staff, trainees, and volunteers on substance use issues
  • Attend and participate in all required meetings, including department and program meetings, agency committee meetings, agency all-staff meetings, training, and group consultation
  • Maintain the highest level of patient confidentiality
  • Participate in ongoing training, staff development, and program evaluation activities
  • Attend the PRCC and program-specific and organizational activities and meetings, including but not limited to the monthly organization-wide General Assembly
  • Participate in organizational annual events including but not limited to the Puerto Rican People's Parade, Fiesta Boricua, Three Kings Day, and Haunted Paseo Boricua
Requirements
  • Knowledge of 12 step recovery process and previous experience providing substance use services
  • Demonstrated experience in crisis intervention, individual and group therapy
  • Prior knowledge and experience with clients who are HIV+, diverse communities, particularly the LGBTQ+ community
Skills
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, and work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds
Licenses and Certifications
  • Current licensure as a LCPC, and or LCSW as stated by the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation
  • CADC (Certificate in Alcohol and Drug Counseling) certification, preferred
Education
  • A Master's degree in clinical mental health counseling/counseling psychology or social work in clinical track from an accredited college or university
