Job Summary:

The Associate Director of Behavioral Health will provide behavioral health and substance abuse clinical programming, interact with clients, and implement new programs and in-services as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing supervision, training, and oversight of clinical activities.
  • Collaborate with other Public Health Initiatives Programs in the development and implementation of programs that reflect the mission and statement of The Puerto Rican Cultural Center.
  • Provide mental health assessment, short-term and some long-term substance abuse, and mental health counseling services to young and older adults with mental health challenges.
  • Assess needs and barriers to mental health services, case management, treatment planning, individual, and group therapy, crisis management, and referral to internal and external resources.
  • Educate the LGBTQ+ community in regard to access to mental health services.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of 12 step recovery process and previous experience providing substance use services.
  • Demonstrated experience in crisis intervention, individual and group therapy.
  • Prior knowledge and experience with clients who are HIV+, diverse communities, particularly the LGBTQ+ community.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred.
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, and work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current licensure as a LCPC, and or LCSW as stated by the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation.
  • CADC (Certificate in Alcohol and Drug Counseling) certification, preferred.

Education:

  • A Master's degree in clinical mental health counseling/counseling psychology or social work in clinical track from an accredited college or university.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • OSHA Category - Involves no regular exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues are not a condition of employment.

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: $60,000 - $70,000 per year
