Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Volunteer Nutrition Educator for the WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in promoting healthy eating habits and providing essential nutrition education to families in need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide farmers market vouchers to eligible families and explain the process of how to use them.
  • Help families locate a farmers market that is convenient to them and provide information on the nutritional value of various fruits and vegetables.
  • Hand out promotional materials such as stickers and vegetable seeds, and educate families on how to select, prepare, and serve fruits and vegetables.
  • Use Language Line interpreters (or your existing language skills) with families who speak languages other than English.
  • Communicate closely with WIC nutritionists and provide ideas on how to promote healthy eating habits in the community.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in nutrition education or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours, including evenings and weekends.
