About the Position

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to fill the role of Learning Strategist/Learning Coach. This position will play a vital role in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Executive Functioning related disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with ASD and Executive Functioning related disabilities, focusing on self-advocacy, time management, organization, and goal-setting.
  • Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to identify and address social needs and navigate challenging situations.
  • Assist students in accessing and utilizing campus resources, including academic support services and disability accommodations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote student success, including goal-setting, problem-solving, and self-monitoring.
  • Communicate regularly with students, faculty, and staff to monitor progress and provide support as needed.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Special Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferably with young adults.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate with on- and off-campus resources, with a focus on student success.
  • Reliable, responsible, self-motivated, confident, sincere, flexible, patient, dedicated, observant, and considerate qualities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with individuals with ASD and/or Executive Functioning related disabilities.
  • Familiarity with the field of higher education, with some experience working at a college or university.
  • Demonstrated understanding of common needs of individuals with ASD and/or Executive Functioning related disabilities, particularly young adults.
  • Experience working with college students and knowledge of issues regarding transition from high school to postsecondary education for students with disabilities.
