Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Developmental Disability Support

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at Gallipolis Developmental Center. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Job Summary:

The LPN will work under the direction of a Registered Nurse, licensed Physician, Dentist, Podiatrist, or Optometrist to provide skilled practical nursing procedures and treatments. This includes obtaining vital statistics, applying oxygen, sterile dressings, inserting catheters, and administering medications via various routes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Observe, document, and report patient conditions, taking appropriate actions as needed.
  • Provide thorough and knowledgeable reports of patient needs to supervising RN or Physician.
  • Deliver patient education as necessary and monitor patients during and following procedures.
  • Assist RN and Physician as needed and respond to emergencies, providing first aid and performing CPR.
  • Maintain medical accountability records and prepare related reports/forms such as patient charts and medication administration records.
  • Verify and implement Physician's orders and maintain records related to controlled drug administration.
  • Ensure infection control documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Maintain an organized, appropriately stocked work area by ordering, inventorying, and managing supplies.
  • Communicate with the pharmacy to maintain medication stocks and ensure cleanliness of medical work areas.
  • Provide clerical support, including answering phones and managing documentation.
  • Assist and train lower-level direct staff in providing general unskilled nursing care, such as feeding, dressing, and repositioning patients.
  • Attend medical appointments and participate in relevant meetings.
  • Respond to patient alarms and assist in maintaining required patient supervision levels.
  • Confer with the Nursing Supervisor or Director of Nursing regarding nursing needs or other pertinent issues.
Requirements:
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification in the state of Ohio.
  • Ability to work rotating schedules and weekends.
  • Must-Have: Ability to work rotating schedules and weekends.
