POSITION SUMMARY AND REQUIREMENTS:

The School of Humanities at Penn State Harrisburg invites applications for a non-tenure track Senior Lecturer in Communication Studies. The program is looking for candidates with teaching proficiency in subjects such as Mass Media and Society, Media Criticism and Theory, Media Writing, and Critical Media Literacy.

Position Qualifications:
  • The minimum educational requirement for applicants is a master's degree in Communication or a related discipline, with a focus on media criticism and media literacy.
  • Preferred candidates will possess a doctoral degree in Mass Communication or Communication with an emphasis on media literacy and criticism.
  • Applicants with only a master's degree will be appointed at the lecturer level, while those with a doctoral degree will be appointed as Assistant Teaching Professors. The degree must be conferred by the time of application.
  • Full-time faculty typically teach four courses each semester. The ideal candidate will have experience in college-level teaching and a dedication to university service and community engagement. Previous experience in advising and mentoring students is advantageous.
This is a TERM, non-tenure track position with the potential for reappointment (36 weeks).
