Join Our Team as a Tax Manager

Cherry Bekaert is seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our team. As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and review of complex tax returns, tax provisions, and related compliance matters for our insurance industry clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the preparation and review of Form 1120-PC (U.S. Property and Casualty Insurance Company Income Tax Returns) and Form 1120-L (U.S. Life Insurance Company Income Tax Returns)
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
  • Manage tax provision calculations and analysis, including the application of SSAP No. 101 and ASC 740
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors on tax-related matters
  • Research and analyze complex tax issues
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize tax efficiency
  • Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA or ability to obtain the CPA
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in insurance tax compliance
  • In-depth knowledge of Form 1120-PC and 1120-L
  • Strong understanding of insurance statutory accounting principles and NAIC annual statement filings
  • Expertise in the differences between statutory and taxable income for insurance companies
  • Experience with C-corporation consolidated returns, preferably including life/non-life mixed groups
  • Proven ability to manage complex tax projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Leadership and team management experience
