About the IMSR Technology
The IMSR represents a non-Light Water Reactor of the Generation IV class, designed to operate at elevated temperatures essential for a wide range of industrial applications. With the potential for significant economic impact, the IMSR plant excels in both grid-based electric power generation and industrial cogeneration, catering to energy-intensive sectors such as petrochemical and chemical synthesis for hydrogen and ammonia production.

Your Role as a Controls Analysis Engineer
As a Controls Analysis Engineer, reporting to the Instrumentation, Control and Electrical Manager, you will play a vital role in crafting the controls design for various process and nuclear systems associated with our power generation facility. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Defining simulation strategies, boundary conditions, and project scope.
  • Conducting steady-state and transient simulations, along with sensitivity analyses and optimization studies.
  • Creating user-defined codes in programming languages to facilitate simulations.
  • Processing simulation results and preparing comprehensive reports.
  • Presenting findings to senior management to inform strategic decisions.
  • Designing conceptual and detailed instrumentation and control systems, including defining functional and performance requirements, control logic, algorithms, parameters, setpoints, and instrument ranges.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to establish and refine I&C requirements.
  • Contributing to the overall plant design and supporting the control system development.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and staying abreast of advancements in control systems technology.

  • 3 to 8 years of experience in controls simulation, design, and optimization.
  • Familiarity with Flownex or similar analytical tools.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, C++, or Python.
  • Canadian Professional Engineer Certification or eligibility for certification.
  • A strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to comprehend system and component-level dependencies.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with diverse teams.
  • A detail-oriented approach and commitment to high-quality work.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Demonstrated capability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities.

Preferred Assets
While not mandatory, the following qualifications would be advantageous:

  • Experience in instrumentation and control design for nuclear facilities.

  • Understanding of regulatory standards applicable to nuclear control systems.
