Behavioral Interventionist

The University of Illinois Chicago is seeking a skilled Behavioral Interventionist to join our Adult Psychiatry Inpatient Unit. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide patient care and support to individuals with mental illness, emotional conditions, and/or developmental disabilities.

• Deliver patient care utilizing the Relationship-Based Care model as a framework.
• Develop and maintain therapeutic alliances with patients and their families.
• Facilitate, lead, and/or participate in scheduled individual or group therapeutic patient activities and/or patient groups.
• Evaluate patient response and attempts to modify behavior through interventions outlined by the treatment team.
• Assist with verbal de-escalation, distraction, redirection, seclusion, and restraining patients exhibiting explosive and aggressive behaviors.

• Bachelor's Degree with 18 semester hours in one or more of the behavioral sciences.
• Four (4) years (48 months) of direct patient care experience in a psychiatric or mental health care setting.
• CPI certified or to be obtained once hired.
