About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team at the Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of research projects, including the development of rationally designed vaccines and diagnostics against high-consequence foreign animal, emerging and zoonotic disease threats.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct independent research in the areas of molecular biology, virology, and biotechnology
  • Plan and conduct experiments, including PCR, RT-PCR, cloning, cell culture techniques, western blotting, and affinity purification of recombinant proteins
  • Write and edit manuscripts/articles, and present research findings at local, university, or national meetings
  • Establish procedures and techniques, and provide educational guidance to students
  • Work with animals in the BSL2 and BSL3 level of biocontainment
Requirements
  • Minimum of DVM or graduate degree in a science-related field
  • More than 5 years of molecular laboratory experience, including PCR, RT-PCR, cloning, cell culture techniques, western blotting, and affinity purification of recombinant proteins
  • Ability to work with animals in the BSL2 and BSL3 level of biocontainment
Preferred Qualifications
  • DVM with Masters or PhD in immunology, molecular biology, virology, or related field
  • More than 5 years of hands-on experience generating live-vectored subunit vaccines, generation and affinity purification of recombinant proteins, cell culture techniques, conducting safety and immunogenicity studies in cattle, sheep, pigs, and/or mice
