We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team at Kansas State University's Department of Plant Pathology. The successful candidate will work on a project studying the biology and molecular biology of a newly identified sub-viral RNA, Wheat umbra-like virus (WULV). This project aims to investigate interactions between WULV and its host at the molecular and cellular levels, determine the function of two encoded proteins of WULV, and explore viral genome evolution.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology and experience with general molecular techniques, including advanced cloning, RNA and DNA work, and Yeast two-hybrid screening. Prior work with plants and confocal microscopy is highly desirable. The successful candidate will contribute to determining research goals and preparing scientific manuscripts, reporting research methodology, results, and interpretations in consultation with the Principal Investigator.
