Job Summary

The Aide - School Bus position is a vital role in ensuring the safety, care, and comfort of special education students and other students on all school buses. As a key member of our team, you will assist students in boarding and disembarking from school buses, lift and carry students as required, and monitor student behavior on buses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students in boarding and disembarking from all school buses, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Lift and carry students as necessary, using proper lifting techniques to prevent injury.
  • Monitor student behavior on buses, intervening when necessary to prevent conflicts or disruptions.
  • Complete daily attendance of students riding the bus, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
  • Assist the bus driver in developing emergency evacuation plans and performing bus evacuation drills.
  • Respond to emergency situations, efficiently and quickly evacuating students from the bus as needed.
  • Assist the bus driver in receiving information needed to complete accident reports.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with special education students preferred.
  • Knowledge of school safety, procedural, and policy guidelines and applicable regulations.
  • Skills in communication and human relations, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to use and care for school bus and related equipment and supplies according to written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to maintain good relationships with administrators, teachers, students, other employees, and the general public.
