A Repairman-Bus Mechanic Job Description

The Maryland Department of Transportation is seeking a skilled Bus Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining our fleet of buses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues with buses and heavy equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes and tire rotations
  • Inspect and test vehicles to ensure they are safe and roadworthy
  • Collaborate with other technicians to resolve complex problems
  • Document all work performed and maintain accurate records

Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience in a related field, such as heavy equipment repair or automotive maintenance
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a Class A CDL
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
