Seattle, Washington, United States Amazon Full time
About the Role

The Managed Infrastructure team at Amazon is responsible for building and operating one of the world's largest distributed systems, EC2. As a Software Development Engineer on this team, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing the software and tooling needed to build and deploy EC2 at scale.

You will work closely with other foundational AWS service teams, including S3, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, and SWF, to deliver capabilities that enable zero-touch region builds. This requires innovative solutions for managing complex large-scale deployments, including configuration, service migration, dependency detection, and management.

A day in the life of an SDE on the Managed Infrastructure team involves balancing time writing and shipping code, designing new systems and components to solve complex technical and business problems, mentoring others, responding to operational events, and having fun.

We value work-life harmony and strive for flexibility as part of our working culture. You'll have regular 1:1s with your manager to help you set and achieve your career goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement software and tooling for building and deploying EC2 at scale
  • Work closely with other foundational AWS service teams to deliver capabilities for zero-touch region builds
  • Develop innovative solutions for managing complex large-scale deployments
  • Mentor and support junior engineers
  • Respond to operational events and participate in on-call rotations

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Preferred qualifications include 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience and a Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
