Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Hand Therapy Manager, the Hand Therapist will play a crucial role in the orthopedic care and treatment of patients by planning, interpreting, and implementing specific therapy treatment programs. This is a casual opportunity that will provide Hand Therapy services, requiring the ability to float to all Summit locations. The schedule is Monday to Friday, with 8-hour shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, plan, and implement patients' treatment programs in coordination with medical staff.
  • Administer treatment programs per physician orders, clarify physician's treatment instructions, and/or confer with physician and medical staff on patient care issues as indicated.
  • Recommend hand therapy policies and procedures concerning services provided.
  • Evaluate charts and report on patient progress.
  • Maintain patient records, charts, and discharge summaries.
  • Educate patients and family in proper self-management care and exercise programs.
  • Conduct and participate in clinic educational programs.
  • Assist other therapists in planning treatment programs.
  • Participate in improving organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data, and providing input to department discussions.
  • Participate in establishing job requirements and goals; perform duties at the desired level of competency.
  • Ensure that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective, and efficient environment.
  • Maintain currency in the field through continuing education, literature, and seminars.
  • Follow policies and procedures governing the handling of confidential information as defined by Summit Orthopedics and applicable laws and regulations.
