Position Overview:
CMAP Express is seeking a qualified and experienced Clinical Nutrition Specialist to advocate for healthy dietary practices and deliver Medical Nutrition Therapy for clients enrolled in the Healthy Lifestyle Program across the designated service area.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited dietetics program and hold a current license/registration with the Commission for Dietetic Registration (CDR). An active dietetics license in Louisiana is mandatory. Preference will be given to those with a background or certification in physical fitness or personal training.
Experience:
A minimum of three to five years of professional experience in dietetics is required. The candidate should demonstrate strong competencies in team collaboration, organizational skills, time management, effective communication, and interpersonal relations. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are essential for covering the service area.
Key Responsibilities:
The Clinical Nutrition Specialist will be responsible for:
- Providing individualized Medical Nutrition Therapy and group nutrition counseling to clients.
- Motivating and educating clients on sustainable healthy eating and exercise habits.
- Assessing clients' nutritional needs and designing tailored meal and fitness plans.
- Conducting classes and one-on-one sessions to address various nutritional and health concerns.
- Monitoring and adjusting meal plans based on ongoing assessments of clients' needs.
- Implementing culturally appropriate nutrition strategies.
- Documenting client progress and providing feedback to referring physicians as necessary.
- Engaging with families and individuals to facilitate dietary changes.
- Presenting nutritional information at community events and educational sessions.
Skills and Attributes:
The successful candidate will have a passion for nutrition and physical activity, along with excellent teaching abilities. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are crucial for effectively conveying information and understanding client goals.
