Medical Operations Specialist

As a Medical Operations Specialist in our Sterile Processing department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest quality of care is maintained while contributing to our mission of creating healthier communities.
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced professional to oversee the planning, organization, and management of sterile instrument and surgical equipment processing needs within our facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health science or a related field, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage a team to achieve operational and quality goals.
Salary Estimate: Based on industry standards and job requirements, we estimate this role to pay around $85,000-$110,000 per year, depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and direct the acquisition, decontamination, storage, assembly, cleaning, and sterilization of medical supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Manage a team of Sterile Processing personnel to achieve operational and quality goals, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and personnel actions.
- Maintain quality control parameters for sterilization processes, ensure biological/mechanical testing is performed, and develop related policies and procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels of supplies and instruments, adhere to safety protocols, and promote individual professional growth and development.
- Act as a resource to staff and internal customers, represent the facility on system councils, and contribute to a safe and compassionate work environment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Health Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum five years of experience involving sterilization of instruments, equipment, and supplies or related experience in the operating room/acute hospital environment.
- Three years of supervisory experience and basic knowledge of budgeting concepts.
- Knowledge of perioperative and materials management software programs, Joint Commission and Association for Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards.
