Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced professional to oversee the planning, organization, and management of sterile instrument and surgical equipment processing needs within our facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health science or a related field, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage a team to achieve operational and quality goals.

Salary Estimate: Based on industry standards and job requirements, we estimate this role to pay around $85,000-$110,000 per year, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and direct the acquisition, decontamination, storage, assembly, cleaning, and sterilization of medical supplies, materials, and equipment.
  2. Manage a team of Sterile Processing personnel to achieve operational and quality goals, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and personnel actions.
  3. Maintain quality control parameters for sterilization processes, ensure biological/mechanical testing is performed, and develop related policies and procedures.
  4. Monitor inventory levels of supplies and instruments, adhere to safety protocols, and promote individual professional growth and development.
  5. Act as a resource to staff and internal customers, represent the facility on system councils, and contribute to a safe and compassionate work environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum five years of experience involving sterilization of instruments, equipment, and supplies or related experience in the operating room/acute hospital environment.
  • Three years of supervisory experience and basic knowledge of budgeting concepts.
  • Knowledge of perioperative and materials management software programs, Joint Commission and Association for Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards.
