Job Overview
As a Space Infrastructure Specialist at Gravitics, you'll play a critical role in building our space systems. You'll work directly on the product lifecycle, from assembly to testing, focusing on challenging structures such as pressurized components, launch adapters, mechanisms, tooling, and more.
Key Responsibilities
- Challenge conventional thinking and drive innovation in your work.
- Modify, repair, and assemble spacecraft components and subcomponents.
- Laser/TIG weld assembly and fabrication of various small to large scale structures and assemblies.
- Heavy rigging for large assemblies.
- Operate personnel platforms (boom lifts, scissor lifts, etc.).
- Setup of safety equipment and work platforms at elevated heights.
- Collaborate with the mechanical design team to incorporate design for manufacturability.
- Participate in regular build quality reviews to ensure design intent is achieved and well-communicated.
- Identify automation opportunities and establish requirements as well as evaluating return on investment for each.
- Support component level testing such as proof, leak, and functional checkouts.
- Perform quality checks using nondestructive inspection methods.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalency certificate.
- At least 1+ years of experience in hardware assembly, test, maintenance, material handling, and/or installation OR a certificate from an accredited trade skills program in A&P, manufacturing, and/or electronics.
- The ability to lift at least 25 lbs unassisted.
Bonus Points
- A proven history of building/inspecting/testing hardware in launch vehicles or space systems.
- Background in MIG/TIG/laser welding, with certifications in AWS D17.1 and D1.2.
- Experience with forklifts, cranes, and heavy transport equipment.
- Use of precision measuring instruments.
- Familiarity with CAD/PLM packages such as NX/Teamcenter.
- Proficient with computers and the ability to use MS Office.
- Having a portfolio of past manufacturing projects.
Compensation and Benefits
Your salary will be determined based on your experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive compensation package, including company equity, comprehensive medical benefits, a 401(k) retirement plan, generous PTO policy, employee discounts, and more. Our annual salary range is $70,000 - $120,000.
