To achieve this, we need talented individuals who can work on the full product lifecycle of building, inspecting, and testing complex assemblies. As a Structures Technician, you will be responsible for modifying, repairing, and assembling spacecraft components and subcomponents, including pressurized structures, launch adapters, mechanisms, tooling, and more.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Challenging the status quo and pushing innovation
  • Modifying, repairing, and assembling spacecraft components and subcomponents
  • Laser/TIG weld assembly and fabrication of various small to large scale structures and assemblies
  • Heavy rigging for large assemblies
  • Operating personnel platforms (boom lifts, scissor lifts, etc.)
  • Setup of safety equipment and work platforms at elevated heights
  • Collaborating with the mechanical design team to incorporate design for manufacturability
  • Participating in regular build quality reviews to ensure that design intent is achieved and well-communicated
  • Identifying automation opportunities and establishing requirements as well as evaluating return on investment for each
  • Supporting component level testing such as proof, leak, and functional checkouts
  • Performing quality checks using nondestructive inspection methods

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • At least 1 year of experience in hardware assembly, test, maintenance, material handling, and/or installation OR a certificate from an accredited trade skills program in A&P, manufacturing, and/or electronics
  • The ability to lift at least 25 lbs unassisted

Bonus points if you have:

  • A proven history of building/inspecting/testing hardware in launch vehicles or space systems
  • Background in MIG/TIG/laser welding, with certifications in AWS D17.1 and D1.2
  • Experience with forklifts, cranes and heavy transport equipment
  • Use of precision measuring instruments
  • Familiarity with CAD/PLM packages such as NX/Teamcenter
  • Proficient with computers and the ability to use MS Office
  • Having a portfolio of past manufacturing projects

Salary: $70,000 - $120,000 per year
