Position Overview
As a Lead Geological Consultant at Bunnell Lammons Engineering, Inc. (BLE), you will play a crucial role in our commitment to excellence within the Hydrogeological Services Department. Your responsibilities will include overseeing intricate geological projects, conducting data analysis, and effectively communicating your insights to stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, civil/environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of senior-level experience, including over 5 years of direct project management, staff supervision, technical proposal preparation, regulatory agency interactions, and quality assurance/control of deliverables.
  • Professional Geologist (PG) certification.
  • Capability to design field sampling initiatives, manage multiple subcontractors, and interpret geological, hydrogeological, and chemical data from contaminated sites.
  • Proficiency in groundwater statistics.
  • Strong technical writing, oral communication, presentation, and time management skills.
  • Exceptional leadership and client management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve organizational and project goals.
  • Technically skilled, adaptable, and forward-thinking.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing budgets and timelines.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under time constraints.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local solid waste and mining regulations.
  • Willingness to travel regionally for short durations.
Daily Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, training, mentoring, and support to junior staff while serving as a regional expert in soil and groundwater.
  • Oversee and analyze groundwater compliance at landfill sites.
  • Prepare and review Alternative Source Demonstrations (ASD), Assessment of Corrective Measures (ACM), and Corrective Action Plans (CAP).
  • Manage and prepare Hydrogeological Assessment Reports (HAR) for both existing and new landfill and mining sites.
  • Conduct geological economic resource evaluations for both existing and new mining sites.
  • Develop Environmental Monitoring Plans (EMP) for current and prospective landfill sites.
  • Oversee subsurface investigation and remediation projects, including scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and subcontractor management for public and private sector clients.
  • Conduct peer reviews of project deliverables, such as reports, proposals, cost estimates, and plans for national, regional, and local clients.
  • Develop and update templates for proposals, reports, plans, and protocols related to hydrogeological and geological evaluations, and disseminate updates to branch and project managers.
  • Perform internal audits of projects to ensure compliance with industry and company standards.
  • Act as a liaison and advocate for clients with state and federal environmental regulatory agencies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Experience with groundwater modeling.
  • Familiarity with GIS and/or CAD.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification.
