Behavioral Health Clinical Co-Responder

Job Summary:

The City of Aurora and UCHealth partner to provide crisis intervention programs to ensure that Aurora citizens have access to the most appropriate resource regardless of their situation. The civilian-led Aurora Mobile Response Team (AMRT) serves as an alternative response to law enforcement and pairs mental health professionals with EMTs/Paramedics to provide trauma-informed care for low acuity behavioral health calls for service.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct interviews and assessments of patients and/or their family, caregivers, and/or legal representatives to determine prioritized and provide needed internal and external services/interventions.
  • Participate in case reviews to evaluate case management and progress, and consult with healthcare team members to promote, monitor, and evaluate compliance with patient's treatment plan.
  • Respond in the field as a co-responder with local law enforcement to patients in active crisis, identifying appropriate resources including transportation, housing, healthcare, and social/spiritual services, and providing referrals as part of the field response.
  • Supervise and/or train new staff, students, and interns, requiring critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Social Service or Behavioral Health related field.
  • Required Licensure/Certification: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Marriage and Family Counselor (MFT) or Licensed Addiction Counselor (ACD). Relevant life support certification as determined at position level.
