Special Education Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate educator to join our team as a Special Education Teacher at The Spire School in Stamford, CT.

About The Spire School:

  • We are a NEASC-accredited and Connecticut State Approved Special Education Program.
  • We provide a therapeutic day school environment for Grades 8–12 students who face academic and emotional challenges.

Compensation Package:

  • A competitive salary ranging from $85,000.00 to $90,000.00 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student with special needs.
  • Monitor student progress through tracking and assessing student development, making necessary adjustments to keep them on the path to success.
  • Manage challenging behaviors and implement behavior support plans.
  • Work closely with paraprofessionals, support staff, and parents to build a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Advocate for students ensuring compliance with educational laws and advocate for the rights and needs of students with disabilities.
  • Create a positive and engaging learning space where every student feels supported and can thrive.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in special education, education or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Strong experience in creating, implementing, and managing IEPs.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Possesses a collaborative mindset with the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Passion for Special Education through patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students with special needs succeed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in special education, education or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
