Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  1. Team Management
  • Lead and manage a team of receiving personnel, providing guidance and support to ensure the smooth operation of the receiving process.
  • Assign tasks, set priorities, and evaluate team performance to ensure the team is working efficiently and effectively.
  • Conduct training and mentorship to improve the skills and efficiency of the receiving team.
Receiving Process Management
  • Oversee the receiving process, including unloading, sorting, and inspecting incoming shipments to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Verify that received goods match purchase orders, packing lists, and invoices to ensure accuracy and prevent discrepancies.
  • Inspect items for damage, discrepancies, or quality issues, and report findings to ensure the integrity of the inventory management process.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of received inventory to prevent damage and ensure accessibility.
Inventory Control
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of received inventory to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Organize and label received items for easy identification and retrieval to ensure efficient inventory management.
  • Collaborate with the inventory control team to track stock levels, replenishment, and restocking needs to ensure optimal inventory levels.
  • Assist in the implementation of inventory management systems and best practices to ensure efficient and accurate inventory management.
Quality Assurance
  • Implement quality control procedures to ensure that received goods meet quality and safety standards to ensure customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with suppliers or vendors to address quality issues or discrepancies to ensure timely resolution and prevent future issues.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to maintain product integrity and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Documentation and Compliance
  • Ensure that all receiving documentation, including packing slips, purchase orders, and inspection records, are accurate and complete to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with receiving regulations, safety standards, and company policies to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Stay informed about industry-specific compliance requirements to ensure The Tile Shop remains compliant and up-to-date.
Supplier and Internal Communication
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers or vendors regarding shipment schedules, delivery discrepancies, and quality concerns to ensure timely resolution and prevent future issues.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, warehouse management, and distribution, to coordinate the timely flow of goods and ensure efficient inventory management.
  • Address inquiries and resolve issues related to received inventory to ensure customer satisfaction and prevent future issues.
Safety and Training
  • Promote a culture of safety within the receiving department, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Provide training on safe handling, equipment operation, and receiving procedures to ensure employees are equipped to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
Reporting and Recordkeeping
  • Maintain detailed records and reports of receiving activities, inventory levels, and discrepancies to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Generate regular reports for management and other stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for efficiency gains to ensure continuous improvement and optimization.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or coursework in logistics or inventory management may be beneficial.
  • Proven experience in receiving, inventory control, or warehouse management, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of receiving regulations, quality control processes, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software, warehouse management systems (WMS), and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks (if required).
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and quality.
