MITRE is seeking a highly skilled senior engineer with expertise in nuclear technologies to join our Emerging Engineering and Physical Sciences Department. As a key member of our team, you will work on innovative solutions to enhance energy security, addressing critical infrastructure, microgrids, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth analysis of advanced nuclear technologies and deployment challenges.
- Evaluate future nuclear technologies and trends to address customer needs and drive business growth.
- Assess the maturity and capabilities of nuclear technologies to inform strategic decisions.
- Design and evaluate power and energy technologies to optimize energy efficiency and security.
- Collaborate with experts from MITRE, customers, and partners to drive innovation and results.
Requirements:
- BS and 5 years of experience in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Technical expertise in nuclear technology areas, including reactor design and energy storage.
- Strong writing and presentation skills to effectively communicate complex technical information.
- Ability to conduct research and development in a collaborative environment, driving innovation and results.
- Critical thinking and proactive problem-solving abilities to address complex energy security challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS or PhD in relevant fields, such as Nuclear Engineering or Energy Systems.
- Extensive experience in designing and evaluating nuclear reactors, with a focus on energy security and efficiency.
- Understanding of energy storage, conversion, and distribution technologies to inform strategic decisions.
