Adjunct Faculty Position in Music at VCUarts

Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts) Department of Music is seeking qualified candidates for a pool of adjunct teaching positions. This pool will be used to provide temporary staffing, special teaching expertise, and to meet special programmatic needs not otherwise provided for within the program.

Possible adjunct opportunities could include teaching a course(s) in any of the areas of study offered by the Department of Music. If an adjunct opportunity arises, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Music, Music Education, Music Theory, or a related field.
  • Appropriate teaching experience and/or strong oral presentation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in one or more areas of expertise in Voice, Winds and Percussion, Strings, Piano, Jazz, and other relevant areas.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in Music or Music Education.
  • Experience instructing applied lessons from beginner to advanced levels.
  • Willingness to recruit as needed, assist with semesterly assessments, and help support the Music department's vision and student growth.
