Job Title: Senior Process Control System Designer

Job Summary:

KBR is seeking a Senior Process Control System Designer to support Off-Shore and Subsea engineering activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process control system architecture and design, with experience in developing electrical/instrument plans, sections, and details, schematic/wiring diagrams, and loop drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction on critical activities requiring knowledge and expertise concerning process control network architecture and instrumentation.
  • Facilitate project design and drafting management in accordance with Off-Shore and Subsea industry and company standards.
  • Resolving drawing development issues and implementing revisions to record copy construction documentation.
  • Develop construction scopes of work for use in defining work activities for construction contractors.
  • Assist construction contractors with Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of instrumentation and telecommunication systems as necessary.
  • Assist in the review of construction activity work schedules to assure efficiency in the execution of tasks.
  • Assist in coordinating the distribution of construction work packages as necessary.
  • Provide design and drafting services for time/budget critical construction work packages.
  • Develop typical instrument installation details and hook-up philosophies.
  • Create typical loop diagrams generated in Intools.
  • Design PCS (Process Control System) and ESS (Emergency Shutdown System) architectural block diagrams.
  • P&ID instrument nomenclature development and document redlines.
  • Intools instrument index database population and deployment.
  • Deploy Documentum system implementations for CSE design deliverables.
  • Create technical specification criteria per project.
  • Supervise and/or create deliverable drawing generations for wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, building layouts, foundation Fieldbus segment diagrams, instrument location plans, analyzer sample bundle routing plans, INtools instrument index, air manifold distribution schedules, UPS power distribution and load summaries, CSE cable schedules, hook-up details, installation details, electrical and mechanical bulk material requisitions.
  • Create Construction Narrative and Site Scope of Work.
  • Support MTO/FEED estimates.
  • Communicate with vendors for material quotes and availability of materials.
  • Create MTO lists by performing material take-offs to ensure the timely availability of items.
  • Generate material requisitions for submittal to project managers for approvals.
  • Maintain record of documents and correspondence pertaining to technical design issues throughout the development of projects.
  • Maintain a high level of expertise in relevant areas of design and drafting and ensure access to specialty resources and technology.
  • Coordinate with project managers, purchasing agents, inspectors, engineering contractors, and construction contractors relating to design drawing content, materials, and construction issues.
  • Coordinate with project managers and engineering on design and project logistical issues to assure effective, linear progress of the project.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree (Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years relevant work experience in a drafting environment developing electrical/instrument plans, sections, and details, schematic/wiring diagrams, and loop drawings in Off-Shore and/or Subsea Industry.
  • Expert in Process Control System Architecture and Design.
  • Working knowledge of applicable NEC codes and industry standards.
  • Proficient with latest versions of AutoCAD.
  • Proficient with latest version of Microsoft Office software.
  • Working knowledge of SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) version 2018.
  • Working knowledge of Navis 3D viewer software.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with multi-disciplined construction team and managers.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities and solve problems.
  • Site field experience working in Off-Shore and/or Subsea Industry.
