Daily Responsibilities at NTT DATA

The Facilities Engineer is responsible for overseeing and executing daily maintenance and operational tasks for buildings and properties within a designated area, collaborating with both internal staff and external service providers. This role typically operates Monday through Friday, with flexibility required for emergency situations during nights or weekends. Consistent attendance is crucial for effective performance.

Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage and execute maintenance and project activities for properties and facilities. Conduct thorough inspections of building interiors and exteriors, ensuring cleanliness and proper maintenance of all areas, including customer-facing spaces, offices, and restrooms. Oversee janitorial and facility staff to maintain cleanliness through various cleaning methods and ensure waste disposal is handled appropriately. Submit requests for fire system deactivation and communicate with the Operations Team before undertaking any work that may affect critical equipment or occupied areas. Collaborate with suppliers to maintain an adequate supply of facility-related consumables while optimizing costs. Undertake project assignments from the Regional or Local Facilities Manager and consistently seek improvements in material processes. Assist with requests related to property and building areas, including furniture and material relocations. Carry out regular building repairs and installations, including minor surface patches and door repairs. Perform preventive maintenance tasks as directed by the Site Property Manager. Facilitate the setup and breakdown of facilities for events, including arranging decorations and furniture. Maintain accurate records of daily tasks and updates regarding maintenance and repair statuses in work order systems. Support team leadership in achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) and managing budgets for operations and projects. Participate in monthly inspections with the Site Property Manager. Perform additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Comprehensive understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), fire safety, and building systems. Technical skills for managing routine maintenance and repairs of HVAC, lighting, and plumbing systems. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to interpret construction drawings and product data sheets. Problem-solving skills for building and equipment issues with minimal supervision. Proficiency in selecting and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Capability to operate lifts, forklifts, and other equipment. Basic proficiency in MS Office, data entry, and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). Strong teamwork skills. Attention to detail. Experience with hand and machine tools.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree or 2-3 years of vocational training with certification preferred. Experience with hand and machine tools. Fire and Life Safety experience is a plus. Bilingual in Spanish is advantageous.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Predominantly walking, standing, and bending with some sitting. Effective communication skills. Close visual work on computer terminals. Dexterity to operate required equipment and computer systems. Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Capability to climb ladders and work at heights.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Standard office and data center settings with variable temperatures and noise levels. Frequent use of computers. Onsite work required; telecommuting is not an option.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Willingness to work outside regular hours, including weekends and holidays as needed. Participation in after-hours notification protocols may be required. Occasional travel to other facilities may be necessary. Forklift certification will be provided during employment. Familiarity with OSHA, PPE, and NFPA 70E standards is expected. CPR/First Aid certification will be provided during employment. Steel-toed safety shoes are mandatory. A valid state-issued driver's license is required.

This position necessitates onsite work at a data center facility and may involve the use of a personal mobile device, for which a monthly stipend will be provided if applicable.

NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. The hourly base salary for this position is $34.70 and is eligible for overtime in accordance with local and federal regulations.

All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
