Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Engineer to join our team at the City of Grand Forks. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for leading and participating in complex technical engineering tasks, including surveying, drafting, and project management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and oversight to junior staff members, ensuring the successful completion of projects and tasks.
  • Project Management: Lead and participate in the planning, design, and implementation of stormwater management and erosion control projects.
  • Surveying and Drafting: Conduct site surveys, prepare detailed plans and specifications, and utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to design and develop engineering projects.
  • Training and Development: Train and mentor junior staff members in technical engineering methods, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and GIS.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other departments, outside agencies, and organizations to ensure effective project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records and files, and prepare reports on project progress and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Education: Equivalent to an Associate's degree in surveying, drafting, engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible technical engineering, land surveying, and CADD/GIS experience, including project supervision of engineering technicians.
  • Certifications: Possession of, or ability to obtain, an International Municipal Signal Association Work Zone Temporary Traffic Control Technician certification and a valid driver's license.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent deadlines and changing priorities.
