This role involves not only managing the Quality Assurance team but also implementing robust testing and inspection processes to ensure product excellence.
Key Leadership Role: This position is crucial for our SQF certified and FDA LACF registered facility. The Director will take a hands-on approach, supervising two direct managerial reports while also leading the Quality Assurance Technicians and Sanitation Crew. Responsibilities include providing daily guidance, feedback, and mentorship to foster a culture of success.
Collaborative Environment: Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role is part of a cohesive leadership team that regularly reviews performance metrics and shares best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a pivotal leader in our expanding business, managing the Quality Assurance Department to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality products that surpass customer expectations.
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for all Food Safety Systems, Quality programs, Regulatory Compliance, and Customer Specifications across the organization.
- Establish and maintain quality standards, implementing programs aimed at continuous improvement.
- Supervise and support the Quality Assurance team effectively.
- Coordinate quality testing, product analysis, and process control initiatives.
- Implement corporate policies within the facility and report on their status and progress.
- Develop and review product specifications.
- Stay informed on regulatory changes and ensure compliance.
- Lead the quality control team to guarantee that all incoming raw materials and finished products meet established specifications.
- Ensure the plant is consistently prepared for audits.
- Manage interactions with regulatory and auditing agencies.
- Oversee the customer complaint resolution process, collaborating with plant management to identify and rectify root causes.
- Engage with vendors, customers, and plant personnel to address and resolve quality concerns.
- Maintain the HACCP Plan to uphold food safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, SQF Standards, Food Safety Guidelines, and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Contribute to data collection, trend analysis, and process improvements.
- Oversee weight and defect control programs in alignment with company standards.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in QA within the food manufacturing sector is essential.
- Over 10 years of managerial and leadership experience in Quality Assurance and Food Safety roles.
- LACF – Better Process Certified & SQF Certified Practitioner.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, Food Safety, and Safe Quality Foods certification.
- Six Sigma certification is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ownership and accountability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, capable of guiding teams through significant changes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in technical reporting.
- Excellent decision-making and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in multitasking with a keen attention to detail.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.

Physical Demands:
Candidates should be capable of functioning in both office and manufacturing environments. The majority of time will be spent in the manufacturing area. Candidates must be able to navigate the facility safely and interact with staff. Willingness to work additional hours during the week and/or weekends may be required.
