We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team at Coastal Gulf & International, Inc. as an Analytical Specialist. This role will be responsible for performing routine laboratory tests and ensuring the accuracy and quality of results.
Key Responsibilities- Test Analysis: Conduct basic analytical tests based on established standards and procedures to determine the chemical or physical characteristics of samples.
- Equipment Operation: Assist and perform the setup, adjustment, and operation of laboratory equipment to ensure accurate analysis.
- Instrument Calibration: Calibrate laboratory instruments as needed to ensure accurate analysis according to Quality Management systems.
- Cleaning and Sterilization: Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
- Chemical Preparation: Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas to support laboratory testing.
- Record Keeping: Record test results on standardized forms and write test reports describing procedures used.
- Data Entry: Understand and complete laboratory raw data sheets and make accurate entries into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) database.
- Quality Assurance: Exercise procedural, safety, and quality requirements specified in the Laboratory Manual & Safety Manual and company policies.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related science preferred, or equivalent work experience; coupled with a minimum of one (2) year of direct transferable experience working in a laboratory.
- Knowledge: Knowledgeable in ASTM standards and able to work with all chemical, petrochemical, and petroleum products.
- Skills: Must be able to differentiate between colors accurately by sight and have a great work history with a track record of being a responsible individual.
- Software: Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Access, and experience with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) preferred.
This position is performed in a laboratory environment and requires the ability to work in the presence of odors typical of petroleum or petrochemicals without allergic reactions or nausea, when such odors are within OSHA-designated permissible exposure limits (PELs).
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
