Laboratory Specialist

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our team at Coastal Gulf & International, Inc.

The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for performing routine laboratory tests, ensuring accurate and timely results, and maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment.

• Perform basic analytical tests and procedures as assigned by the Laboratory Manager.
• Assist in the setup, adjustment, and operation of laboratory equipment.
• Calibrate laboratory instruments to ensure accurate analysis.
• Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
• Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
• Record test results and write test reports describing procedures used.
• Understand and complete laboratory raw data sheets and make accurate entries into the LIMS database.
• Exercise procedural, safety, and quality requirements specified in the Laboratory Manual & Safety Manual and company policies.

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related science preferred, or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledgeable in ASTM standards.
• Ability to work with all chemical, petrochemical, and petroleum products.
• Accurate color differentiation by sight.
• Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) experience preferred.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Access preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment.

This position is performed in a laboratory environment. The working environment and physical demands described here are representative, but not necessarily all-inclusive, of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee's lifting requirement and/or move items up to 50 pounds. Be able to work in the presence of odors typical of petroleum or petrochemicals without allergic reactions or nausea, when such odors are within OSHA-designated permissible exposure limits (PELs).

May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
