Job Title: Director, Machine Learning

Procore Technologies is seeking a seasoned Director, Machine Learning to lead our Enterprise AI/ML org. As a visionary leader, you will be responsible for building and scaling a high-performing team of ML engineers and scientists who design, develop, and deploy impactful machine learning solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define and lead the strategic roadmap for the Machine Learning team, aligning with broader organizational goals.
  • Recruit, build, and lead a high-performing team of Machine Learning Scientists and Engineers.
  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of production-grade ML solutions across various business domains.
  • Collaborate with product management, data engineering, and analytics teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Select and implement appropriate ML algorithms, frameworks, and tools to ensure efficient and scalable model development.
  • Champion innovation and experimentation within the team, encouraging exploration of new technologies and techniques.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in the field of ML and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Establish and maintain engineering best practices for ML model development, deployment, and operation (MLOps).
  • Ensure data security, privacy, and ethical considerations are integrated throughout the ML development process.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field (PhD preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in leading and managing teams.
  • 5+ years of experience managing machine learning scientists and engineers and deploying models to production.
  • 8+ years of relevant Machine Learning experience.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering impactful ML solutions within a business context.
  • Experience with training and optimizing Deep Learning models.
  • Applied experience with NLP.
  • Hands-on experience developing and managing ML models.
  • Real-world experience in deploying predictive models at scale to production leveraging large and unstructured datasets.
  • Experience in LLMs and GenAI is preferred.
  • Superior communication skills with the ability to communicate complex mathematical and statistical concepts in simple terms.
  • Strong understanding of the ML engineering lifecycle, including model development, deployment, monitoring, and governance.
  • Excellent collaboration and leadership skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
