Position Overview:
We are seeking a Fleet Operations Maintenance Lead for a recycling organization. The Fleet Operations Maintenance Lead is tasked with overseeing a maintenance facility that operates under the guidance of a Maintenance Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
The Fleet Operations Maintenance Lead's duties encompass managing a team of technicians responsible for the preventive maintenance and repair of a fleet; machinery that supports a post-collection facility; and the upkeep of equipment servicing the container shop. This role also involves directing technicians to ensure all repairs and maintenance are conducted in accordance with Company safety and compliance standards, as well as adhering to all federal and state regulations.
Work Planning:
The Fleet Operations Maintenance Lead is responsible for planning and scheduling repair tasks for the team to guarantee that all work is performed safely and efficiently, minimizing productivity losses.
Team Leadership:
This position requires providing guidance to technicians at various levels to ensure that all repair and maintenance activities are executed safely, effectively, and promptly.
- Monitor operational performance and efficiency, taking corrective actions as necessary.
- Report to management on performance metrics; recommend process improvements for enhanced efficiency.
- Supervise technicians in the maintenance facility, which includes conducting daily meetings, fleet inspections, coaching, and training technicians on performance and corrective actions as needed.
- Conduct inspections of external repairs to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Identify training needs and document issues for constructive discussions with technicians.
- Perform Quality Control Inspections to ensure all work meets safety and compliance standards.
- Oversee diagnostics for complex repair issues and provide necessary coaching.
- Manage inventory control within the maintenance shop to ensure adequate equipment and parts availability while adhering to budget constraints.
Technical Expertise:
The Fleet Operations Maintenance Lead will maintain advanced knowledge of engine systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems to perform preventive and repair maintenance on heavy equipment and vehicles. This includes:
- Engine chassis repair and maintenance.
- Understanding vehicle body control systems, including hydraulics and electrical systems for timely and safe repairs.
- Utilizing welding tools for efficient repairs on heavy equipment.
Administrative Duties:
The Fleet Operations Maintenance Lead will manage administrative tasks for the team, including payroll, maintenance of employee records, documentation of all preventive and corrective maintenance performed, and recording information into maintenance software. Additionally, the Lead will prepare and submit budgets for approval and set departmental goals aligned with the performance objectives established by the organization's leadership.
