Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified High School English Teacher to join our team at Uncommon Schools. As a High School English Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching English Language Arts to high school students and helping them develop a love of reading and writing.

You will work closely with your colleagues to develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of all students.

Our teachers are passionate about literature and building an engaging, rigorous classroom culture that helps all students prepare for college.

Responsibilities
  • Teach English Language Arts to high school students
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of all students
  • Work closely with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives
  • Participate in weekly, school-wide meetings to cultivate community and model our core values
  • Partner with students' families to ensure appropriate resources are available to support their child's learning needs
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Academic expertise in Humanities, English, Social Sciences, or other related fields of study
  • Commitment to the mission of Uncommon Schools and investment in our vision for being an anti-racist organization
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting students' social emotional and academic development
  • Demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities
