Overview
The Industrial Engineer (IE) - Warehouse and Racking plays a crucial role in enhancing operational efficiency within the supply chain. This position focuses on Network Planning, Supply Chain Optimization, Customer Transition/Remapping, M&A, Automation, and various corporate initiatives aimed at managing and implementing warehouse racking solutions. The IE evaluates storage and racking systems in US Foods warehouses, providing recommendations to optimize process flow, increase storage capacity, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and propose innovative racking or space solutions to enhance storage capacity and operational safety.
  • Evaluate current warehouse racking frameworks and suggest improvements based on safety and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct site assessments and provide strategic recommendations for potential acquisition sites and automation projects.
  • Oversee the implementation of new racking systems and modifications to existing structures across various warehouse operations.
  • Support supply chain optimization initiatives, ensuring effective implementation of automation, facility layout, and customer mapping.
  • Collaborate with Network Planning and Continuous Improvement teams to train warehouse staff on best practices.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in racking systems, efficiency techniques, and warehouse management software.
  • Mentor divisional personnel in racking usage and maintenance best practices.
  • Continuously monitor warehouse operations to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors throughout project implementation.
  • Coordinate with facility partners to ensure proper project execution and compliance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Relationships
  • Internal: Collaborate with Network Planning, M&A, Supply Chain Excellence, and various division leaders.
  • External: Manage relationships with racking and construction vendors.
Work Environment
  • Remote: This role is fully remote, allowing for work from a home-based environment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in warehouse design or redesign.
  • Experience in presenting capital expenditure justifications to senior leadership.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Strong project management capabilities, including experience with Gantt Charts.
  • Analytical skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Familiarity with Warehouse Management Software.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies and Lean principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75%.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in warehouse design within the cold chain or food distribution sectors.
  • Proficiency in Red Prairie, Blue Yonder, or SAP.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
  • Experience with warehouse automation technologies.
  • Ability to write SQL queries.
  • Background in the food distribution industry.
  • Experience working with unionized employees.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, business, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering is preferred.
Compensation
Compensation is based on experience and geographic location. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan bonus and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
