Penn Wharton Budget Model Software Engineer

The Penn Wharton Budget Model is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our development team, you will contribute to the creation of a world-class repository for economic and public policy data. Your expertise in Python, React, and SQL will be instrumental in building a robust and user-friendly interface for our data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement a scalable and efficient data storage system using SQL and Python.
  • Develop a custom API to provide access to our data repository, utilizing Python and React.
  • Collaborate with our economists and product teams to formalize and clarify requirements for our data models.
  • Lead and mentor junior developers, economists, and research associates in software development work, including conducting design and code reviews.
  • Build and maintain human and technical systems for collaborative development, including Agile planning, version control, testing, and deployment.
Requirements
  • BA or MS in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Three years of experience in software development, with a focus on Python, React, and SQL.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
