Job Title: Associate Director, Wharton Finance and Administration

The University of Pennsylvania, a world-renowned leader in education, research, and innovation, seeks an experienced Associate Director to join its Wharton School team. As a strategic financial partner, you will play a pivotal role in the financial management of the Administrative departments within Finance and Administration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the operations and lead the financial reporting for more than 5 Administrative Departments, ensuring effective and timely reporting, and fostering data-informed decision-making processes.
  • Lead and manage a team of financial professionals, providing regular ongoing feedback, coaching, and development opportunities to help team members strengthen their current skills and develop new ones.
  • Act as primary point of contact for F&A and Wharton department stakeholders on all financial matters related to the departments, directing the execution of the annual budgeting process, fiscal year-end close, and other interim/annual reporting for the team's research units.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, specifically with the Associate Controller to identify and implement process enhancements and efficiency measures, ensuring clear and consistent communication flow within the department.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Strong analytical skills with financial analysis and business operations, thorough knowledge of established accounting standards and practices, financial planning, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, strong working knowledge of database technology, experience managing, leading, and motivating a diverse group of professionals, and experience in identifying and driving process improvements to optimize financial performance and operational efficiency.
