Nursing Process:


Develops and/or contributes to a personalized care plan that reflects assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of outcomes.

Ensures the plan incorporates multidisciplinary planning, consultation, and education.

Ensures the plan is informed by admission or outpatient data, ongoing findings, age-appropriate care, cultural considerations, and appropriate acuity.

Ensures the plan is communicated with the patient, family/significant others, and completed promptly.
Monitors patient progress according to the plan.
Adjusts the plan continuously based on patient condition and evaluation of progress.
Ensures care adheres to standards of practice.
Facilitates effective development and execution of discharge plans, including addressing discharge barriers and patient/family education.
Ensures that patients clearly understand discharge instructions. In outpatient settings, identifies barriers and needs for patient/family education that will support the outpatient medical management plan.

Ensures patient safety concerning medications and procedures by utilizing the five rights; preventing patient falls; preventing pressure ulcers; and preventing hospital-acquired infections.

Ensures optimal pain management and patient comfort; identifies and addresses patient anxieties, fears, or concerns regarding their condition, treatment, or discharge.

Ensures that patients comprehend medication purposes, side effects, and administration instructions both in the hospital and at discharge.


Patient Care Experience:
Implements customer service standards as defined by the Service Area, Medical Center, and specific department.
Responds promptly to call lights, alarms, and patient requests.
Makes appropriate referrals and assists customers in utilizing resources.
Maintains and safeguards patient confidentiality.

Maximizes payroll and non-payroll resources effectively.

Basic Qualifications:


Minimum six (6) months recent (within the last 5 years) full-time equivalent experience in Emergency Department or Critical Care or successful completion of a KP ED training program or approved equivalent within the prior 12 months.

If the twelve (12) hour option is chosen, the shift will be 7:00 pm-7:30 am, with an alternative 8-hour shift of 11:00 pm to 7:30 am.
