Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Crew Leader to join our team at Wright Tree Service. As a Crew Leader, you will be responsible for supervising a line clearance crew and planning daily work to ensure efficient and safe operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and Direct Crew Members: Assign work to individual crew members and direct them in performing tasks according to accepted line clearance practices.
  • Ensure Safety and Compliance: Enforce safe work practices, recognize poisonous plants, and use proper safeguards to prevent accidents.
  • Communicate with Customers and Stakeholders: Obtain permission from property owners to trim or remove trees, arrange access, and advise customers of work schedules and interruptions.
  • Manage Crew Performance and Productivity: Monitor crew performance, maintain accurate records, and report on orders completed, units of work, and crew time.
  • Operate and Maintain Equipment: Drive and operate trucks and equipment, perform routine maintenance, and ensure proper working conditions.
  • Train and Develop Crew Members: Provide on-the-job training, safety training, and coaching to ensure crew members are equipped to perform their duties effectively.
  • Collaborate with General Foreperson and Utility Representatives: Receive and interpret tree trimming, removal, and chemical application orders, and coordinate with clients to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements
  • Experience and Qualifications: Minimum 3 years' experience working on tree trimming or clearing crews, or successful completion of applicable performance reviews.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Excellent leadership skills, ability to handle stressful situations, and effective communication with customers, stakeholders, and crew members.
  • Knowledge and Certifications: Basic knowledge of trees, including identification, growth habits, and arboricultural techniques; American National Standards for Tree Care Operations (ANSI Z); herbicide applicator or operator certification; and valid commercial driver's license.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift, move, and maneuver up to 50 pounds; withstand exposure to all kinds of weather; and work in close proximity to energized power lines.
