Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Training and Support: Work with Project SEARCH interns to provide training and support in internship department rotations at UNC Health Southeastern.
  • Individualized Training: Provide one-on-one training and support to interns to help them develop skills, build natural supports, and identify reasonable adjustments and assistive technology.
  • Effective Communication: Communicate effectively with program partners, program staff, colleagues, and family members to ensure seamless support for interns.
  • Employment Planning: Carry out steps of employment plans with interns and other parties as appropriate, and attend individual employment planning meetings to understand interns' strengths, interests, and challenges.
  • Positive Feedback: Practice positive feedback techniques with interns, colleagues, and other staff to promote a supportive work environment.
  • Job Exploration: Train interns on required standards in areas such as personal hygiene, communication, interviewing, and self-management, and explore job options that match their interests and skills.
  • Documentation: Accurately document services provided to interns.
Requirements
  • Education: High School degree or GED required.
  • Valid Drivers' License: Must have a valid drivers' license and automotive insurance.
  • Background Check: Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Communication Skills: Must have excellent written communication skills.
  • Experience: Must have 2 years' experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop, and regularly stand and walk.
  • Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to serve participants in the program delivery area.
