The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join their team as an Acquired Brain Injury Specialist. The successful candidate will work closely with the ABI-MFP Waiver Director and the DDS Assistive Technology Center (ATC) Director to provide expert support to individuals with acquired brain injuries.

The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for providing a range of services, including transition planning, equipment recommendations, and management of equipment within the region. They will also work collaboratively with nursing facilities, durable/special medical equipment vendors, and residential providers to ensure effective service planning.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational therapy principles and theories, with the ability to conceptualize mechanical solutions to clinical problems. They will also be able to work with a minimum of supervision and travel to various work locations as required.

Key responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist will include:

  • Providing transition planning and equipment recommendations to individuals with acquired brain injuries
  • Managing equipment within the region, including tracking and inventory
  • Working collaboratively with nursing facilities, durable/special medical equipment vendors, and residential providers
  • Providing evaluations and consultation related to discharge planning for individuals with acquired brain injuries
  • Attending professional meetings, seminars, conferences, and workshops to promote professional growth and expertise
