As a key player in the investment management team, you will contribute significantly to the oversight of investments managed by external partners on behalf of AIG. The Chief Investment Officer (CIO) team is responsible for assessing the performance of external managers, making tactical asset allocation decisions, and recommending investment guidelines.

The Private Equity Subject Matter Expert (SME) will assist the AIG North America CIO in managing the Private Equity Portfolio, which encompasses due diligence on managers, portfolio oversight, risk assessment, and special initiatives. This position will involve collaboration with third-party managers and General Partners (GPs) across various fund strategies, including leveraged buyouts, growth equity, venture capital, mezzanine financing, real assets, and distressed investments. Additionally, oversight of Direct Equity and Co-Investment portfolios will be part of your responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all investment activities within designated asset classes, advising the CIO team on allocation strategies in response to market fluctuations and risk tolerance.
  • Engage with external managers to coordinate risk management and reporting requirements.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for external managers, fostering effective relationships.
  • Establish regular reporting schedules and processes with external managers, summarizing information for AIG Regional and Global CIOs.
  • Develop and maintain performance benchmarks as necessary.
  • Create presentation materials for various AIG governing committees, including local and global Investment Committees and senior management.
  • Assist in the selection of managers and implement formal oversight processes.
  • Develop and uphold AIG Asset Class Frameworks.
  • Utilize AIG platforms, including Aladdin's eFront, for data aggregation and internal analysis.
  • Participate in industry conferences and Annual General Meetings (AGMs) as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with external managers to provide necessary reporting on scheduled dates, ensuring data is available for CIOs, Enterprise Risk Management, Investment Accounting, and other AIG departments.
  • Conduct special projects as required, such as analyzing private equity holdings, portfolio exposures, performance attribution, investment strategies, industry trends, and technology initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Over 10 years of proven experience in investment management or insurance asset management, particularly in Private Equity.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to introduce innovative ideas into the internal investment process.
  • MBA or CFA designation preferred.
  • Experience in overseeing third-party managers and evaluating GPs.
  • Familiarity with eFront is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to manage multiple tasks, adapt to shifting priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Minimal travel required (up to 10%).
