FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: Dean of Student Services

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, including school and professional development days

Compensation Range: $44,000 - $55,000 annually

Position Overview

At Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction, our Special Education Instructors are responsible for designing and implementing lessons that align with our comprehensive curriculum. Collaborating with colleagues and Hillsdale College's Barney Charter School Initiative, these educators are committed to enhancing both the intellectual and moral development of their students. Our teaching staff values continuous personal growth and contributes to a culture that prioritizes hard work and excellence.

Ideal candidates will possess experience and/or training in supporting gifted and talented students as well as those with diverse learning challenges. Attention to detail and punctuality are essential traits. The Special Education Instructor will collaborate closely with the Dean of Student Services, fellow educators, and paraprofessionals to ensure the successful implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), monitor instructional minutes, conduct annual reviews, and draft personalized education plans. Successful candidates will build strong professional relationships with faculty and staff, engage collaboratively with parents, and guide students towards their personal growth and success. Educators are expected to exemplify moral character consistent with the school's core values and the pursuit of the Good, True, and Beautiful.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
  • Current Special Education teaching license
  • Strong foundation in core content areas; willingness to undergo additional training
  • Commitment to the principles of a rigorous liberal arts education
  • Alignment with the mission and vision of Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools, Inc.
  • Dedication to modeling ethical behavior in accordance with the school's core values

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Education or related field
