We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Part-Time Laborer/Parks Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the City of Lincoln Park. As a key member of our Parks and Recreation department, you will be responsible for performing routine manual labor and related tasks to maintain the city's parks and facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Opening and Closing of Restrooms: Ensure that public restrooms at parks are opened and closed on a daily basis, and are clean and well-stocked.
- Cleaning and Stocking of Park Restrooms: Clean and maintain park restrooms, including restocking supplies and ensuring that facilities are in good working condition.
- Operation of Power Tools: Operate a variety of power tools, including mowers, blowers, trimmers, and other equipment to maintain parks and facilities.
- Ice and Snow Control: Participate in ice and snow control activities, including clearing streets, sidewalks, and other areas of debris.
- Lawn and Landscape Maintenance: Perform lawn and landscape maintenance tasks, including cutting and edging grass, laying sod, raking leaves, planting, weeding, watering, and caring for trees, shrubs, and flowers.
- Maintenance of Parks and Playgrounds: Maintain parks and playground facilities, including cleaning and repairing equipment and ensuring that areas are safe and accessible.
- Work Crew Participation: Participate in work crews to complete various tasks and projects, including clean-up and maintenance activities.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work completed, including time sheets and other forms of data.
- Education: High School Graduate or G.E.D.
- Age: 18 years of age or older.
- License: Valid State of Michigan Driver's License.
- Skills: Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions, lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds, work outdoors in extreme temperatures, and perform manual labor for extended periods.
- Exposure to Weather: Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions.
- Proximity to Moving Parts: Proximity to moving mechanical parts, traffic, and other hazards.
