Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Services Technician to join our team at UnityPoint Health. As an Environmental Services Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and attractive environment for our patients, visitors, and employees.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized environment throughout the hospital, including patient rooms, public areas, and behind-the-scenes spaces.
  • Assist with moving furniture and patient beds as requested.
  • Replenish supplies, including soap, towels, toilet tissue, and other disposable items.
  • Operate and train others to operate cleaning equipment, such as vacuum sweepers, auto scrubbers, and carpet extractors.
  • Clean vents, lights, walls, windows, mirrors, doors, and hardware.
  • Maintain carpets and hard surface flooring, including scraping and refinishing.
  • Collect and dispose of trash, bio-waste, recycling, and chemo-waste.
  • Empties, clean, and relines trash receptacles.
  • Sanitize and spot clean all horizontal surfaces, windows, and polished fixtures.
  • Ensure patient/customer satisfaction with completed work.
  • Follow assigned area work schedule flow and adjust as needed to daily hospital operations.
  • Perform specialized or project cleaning as scheduled and assigned.
  • Stock and replenish linens and scrub orders to par levels.
  • Responsible for job knowledge and abilities, including understanding and applying policies and procedures, information received during orientation, on-the-job training, and requests from leadership.
  • Responsible for job quality and quantity, including adherence to policies and procedures, accuracy, appearance of area, and work completed.
  • Direct and assist staff in assigning areas or project work in the absence of a leader.
Requirements
  • Reading, writing, and mathematical skills at a level normally acquired through completion of high school or equivalent preferred.
  • No experience needed, but 2 years of previous commercial cleaning experience and 1 year of commercial floorcare experience are preferred.
  • Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English, multicultural sensitivity, basic computer skills, customer/patient focused, critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions, takes direction from management, adapts easily to change.
