WORK SCHEDULE:
Work will be conducted five days a week, totaling 37.5 hours per week. Responsibilities may include attending meetings, traveling to various campuses, and teaching during evenings or weekends. Classes may be delivered in various formats, including online and hybrid.
JOB OBJECTIVE:
The primary goal of this position is to instruct and develop courses in PHILOSOPHY, such as Introduction to Philosophy, Introduction to Ethics, Critical Thinking, and World Religions, while supporting the objectives of the program, department, and institution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
65% A. TEACHING: Design and deliver PHILOSOPHY courses to a diverse student body utilizing both traditional and innovative teaching methods. Responsibilities include preparing course outlines, instructional materials, assessing student performance, and maintaining academic records.
20% B. SERVICE/OUTREACH: Engage in program and curriculum development, provide student advising, participate in departmental meetings, and contribute to college committees. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
15% C. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Commit to ongoing professional growth to enhance teaching effectiveness, student assessment, and classroom management skills.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Additional tasks may include operating standard office equipment such as computers and copiers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. A Master's Degree in Philosophy from an accredited institution is required.
B. At least one year of relevant teaching experience at the postsecondary level is necessary.
C. A strong understanding of and commitment to the community college philosophy is essential.
CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE:
A. Experience in teaching introductory philosophy courses is preferred.
B. Familiarity with various teaching modalities, including online and traditional classroom settings, is advantageous.
C. Previous experience in a community college environment is desirable.
D. Strong communication skills and the ability to foster effective interpersonal relationships are crucial.
E. A commitment to the institution's mission and values is expected.
JOB LOCATION:
Candidates should be prepared to teach at multiple campuses or online as required. Travel between locations may be necessary.

Proficiency in using standard office equipment, including computers and projectors, is required. Familiarity with learning management systems and digital communication tools is essential.
