Objective:
Under general supervision, the role involves utilizing assembly sheets to construct components for customized sales order configurations, alongside executing a diverse range of mechanical assembly tasks on prototype units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct alignments and GIGs during the final assembly phase.
- Access work instructions from the Build Book program on the computer to gather all necessary components for the scheduled assembly project.
- Interpret engineering drawings and bills of materials, and requisition parts from the Parts Department as needed.
- Organize truck specifications according to engineering blueprints on a project-by-project basis.
- Execute the final assembly of all units, which includes hoods, electrical systems, lighting, and decals to meet customer specifications.
- Connect hydraulic lines and fill them with oil in preparation for required testing.
- Prepare trucks for sub-frame assembly by disassembling, measuring, repositioning parts, installing components, and reassembling the unit according to established procedures.
- Test assembled components or products to verify proper functionality and quality standards.
- Adhere to workplace health and safety policies, as well as safe work practices and procedures.
- Maintain tools and the workspace in optimal condition.
- May perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Physical Requirements:
- Engage in repetitive tasks while maneuvering around, under, and over equipment on the production floor for 95% of the time.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions for 5% of the time.
Education/Skills/Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Formal training beyond high school (certification or associate degree in automotive repair) is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of mechanical experience is necessary.
- Previous experience with heavy mechanical equipment is preferred.
- Understanding of hydraulic, electrical, gas, and diesel systems is essential.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Capability to read blueprints, hydraulic, and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with computers for accessing work instructions, tracking labor, and other necessary tasks.
