Role Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated School Nurse who will be responsible for delivering comprehensive health services to students. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication and analytical skills, along with a compassionate, student-centered approach to healthcare. Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Managing chronic health conditions and administering medications.
  • Responding to medical emergencies that may occur during school hours.
  • Conducting health screenings and promoting wellness initiatives.
  • Maintaining accurate health records and serving as a resource for health education within the school community.

Collaboration:
You will work closely with educators, administrators, parents, and external healthcare providers to ensure that each student's health needs are addressed, enabling them to engage fully in their educational experience. Your ability to manage a variety of health-related situations, from minor injuries to complex medical conditions, will be crucial in fostering a safe and healthy school environment.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with students.
  • Valid nursing license from any state.
  • Certification in American Heart Association BLS and ACLS.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct vision screenings for students in designated grades and those referred by teachers.
  2. Perform hearing screenings for specified grades and new students.
  3. Initiate follow-ups with parents regarding vision and hearing referrals.
  4. Oversee the documentation of screening results.
  5. Address incomplete immunization records and ensure compliance.
  6. Maintain up-to-date electronic health records for all students.
  7. Assist school staff with the exclusion and readmission of students regarding infectious diseases.
  8. Conduct mandated health assessments for students seeking Special Education services.
  9. Inform parents about required physical examinations and dental assessments.
  10. Compile necessary data for state reports on hearing and immunization compliance.
